Hollywood star Ewan McGregor has given his support to the campaign to save a closure-threatened Royal Air Force base. The Trainspotting and Star Wars actor said he had been "shocked" to learn that RAF Lossiemouth in Moray could be axed.
The fate of the nearby RAF Kinloss base was effectively sealed last month when Prime Minister David Cameron announced the cancellation of the replacement Nimrod fleet.
Since then fears have grown that the Tornado fleet at the region's second base, RAF Lossiemouth, could be moved to England.
McGregor said that closing both bases would be "devastating" to the close-knit Moray community with "effects that would be far-reaching".
